Barpa is a low-noise fast-rise-time preamplifier especially designed for fast-timing applications such as photomultipliers, electron multipliers and other detectors employed in photon counting or ion counting.
When connected to the detector, the 50 ohm input resistance provides a load resistance for the detector output current pulse.
Thanks to its compact size and lightness, Barpa can be installed directly on the detector. Consequently, low-level signals, which would otherwise be susceptible to pickup of noise or interference, are boosted to a suitable level for cable connection to the main amplifier.
